Writing Villains Worth Hating

To my dearest readers,

I have always loved a deplorable Wickham. Not just the laze-about Jane Austen wrote.

I always felt he was more scoundrel, than entitled. We all know greed drives motives, but “what-if” he was just rotten at the core?

Well, that was my first thoughts as I wrote Mr. Wickham into “They Collude, He Cherishes.” However, he took an unexpected turn, and other characters raised their hands to become villains.

How do I write villain’s that you love to hate, and not where the reader wishes you just removed them? Well, a good story arc is what I am using, dropping breadcrumbs for the reader to experience the little layers of villainy, before the reveal.

What are some villains you love to hate?

Warm regards,

Lindley
